The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has adopted Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create and distribute exam papers for a variety of central government positions, a ground-breaking move to improve exam security and transparency. India‘s approach to hiring in the public sector has significantly changed as a result of the technology, which is being used in departmental competitive examinations.

Cubastion Consulting’s AI-powered content authoring tool is currently selecting questions from a large database that has already been approved. Each question paper generated by the system is unique, well-structured, and free of duplicates or repetition.
Real-Time Paper Generation with Advanced Security
Real-time question paper generation is one of the most significant innovations. The paper is not created in advance but is structured dynamically just 15 minutes before the examination. Prior to its release, neither a person nor an official has access to the final paper.
The paper can only be decrypted with an exact digital key because the entire process is encrypted and protected by digital signatures. This guarantees that there will be no leaks or tampering. The system also follows a zero-trust cybersecurity model, which requires digital verification for every access attempt-no user or device is trusted by default.
On June 15, the first AI-powered exam was held.
On June 15, this AI-driven system was successfully used in the first examination, laying the groundwork for subsequent deployments across India.
SSC Chairman S Gopalakrishnan called the launch “a transformational moment” for the exam ecosystem, adding that it’s not just about improving SSC exams but modernizing India’s recruitment infrastructure as a whole.
Cubastion CEO Ravi Kumar noted, “This is a landmark step in examination security For the first time, the exam paper is being dynamically created in real-time, ensuring not just agility but a structure that is secure by design”

Deepanshu Sharma, Project Lead at Cubastion, emphasized that what was once a fragmented, manual process is now a machine-driven, scalable system. “It’s the future of secure examination delivery,” he said.
Toward a Fully Digital, Secure Recruitment Ecosystem
Experts believe that this initiative will pave the way for a pan-India digital examination system-one that is faster, fairer, and more secure. A comprehensive AI-powered transformation seems like the next logical step, given that digital authentication systems are already in place in some parts of SSC’s workflow.
As India moves toward modernization, the SSC’s adoption of AI shows that technology can play a critical role in building trust, ensuring transparency, and improving efficiency in one of the country’s most important public systems.
