Thug Life box office collection day 2: Kamal Haasan film sees big drop, Hindi version wiped out by Housefull 5

Day 2 of Thug Life’s box office haul: The movie starring Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam may have crashed at the ticket window.

Day 2 of Thug Life’s box office haul: The much-anticipated reunion of Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after 37 years has not quite gone as planned. Their newest film, Thug Life, debuted to mixed reviews and is not doing particularly well at the box office. The movie’s second day of release, Friday, saw a significant drop. Sacnilk claims that Thug Life made 7.5 crore yen in all languages on Friday, a significant 55% decrease from its opening day total of 15.50 crore yen. This brings the total for its two days in India to 23 crore. It’s interesting to note that Akshay Kumar’s comedy Housefull 5, which came out on Friday, made that much money on its first day of release. In the Hindi-speaking regions, Thug Life’s business was also hurt by the release of Housefull 5. Thug Life was heavily promoted in the north as a pan-Indian film. It opened its Hindi business, however, with a pitiful 65 lakh rupees. Trade insiders anticipate a number between 25 and 30 lakh on day two. For a star of Kamal Haasan’s stature, this indicates that Thug Life may struggle to even reach 5 crore net in Hindi during its lifetime.

However, Thug Life is also doing poorly in Tamil. Its two-day gross of 23 crores is significantly lower than Vikram, Kamal Haasan’s previous hit at the box office. When it came out in 2022, the Lokesh Kanagaraj film had grossed 60 crore rupees in its first two days. Even Indian 2, a disappointment at the box office that came out last year, did better than expected, earning 44 crore in its first two days at the ticket window. Clearly, Thug Life has a lot of catching up to do if it wants to stay afloat. In light of Kamal Haasan’s contentious remarks regarding the Kannada language, Thug Life’s non-release in Karnataka has had a significant impact.
